Pinterest Unicorn Birthday Party

When it comes to time for a birthday party, I love pulling inspiration off of Pinterest.  Why recreate the wheel is my opinion.  This year, Aspen requested a Unicorn party.  Or rather, I prompted Aspen to pick a unicorn party.  I guess you can see who's idea won out?  There were just so many fun party ideas to pull from.

Since I've done all the research, I wanted to provide you with the top five tried and true pins to help you recreate your own Unicorn party.

Here are the top five pins I used to create Aspen's Unicorn Third Birthday.

1. Unicorn Wall

The first place I start with any party design is a fun backdrop.  Often times you can find an easy and affordable piece that takes your party set up from plain to fabulous.  For the unicorn party, I loved the unicorn cut-outs like this one that Angela sales on her Etsy page.  If you have a cut machine like cricuit or silhouette, then you can easily make this yourself just like I did.

Yum, cake.  Plain sheet cakes are a thing of the past.  Tiered cakes make for a great centerpiece for a party set-up.  We used this cake as inspirations for our unicorn cake design.

3. Rainbow Treats

Pinterest offers a huge variety of rainbow and unicorn-inspired food ideas.  Since we held our party at a location, we were limited on how much we could bring.  I decided to have just a few snack options that were easy yet adorable.  I loved Live Love Liz's Unicorn Popcorn recipe.  We used kettle corn for the sweetness and melting chocolates in pink, purple and blue.

A Bajillion Recipes had a great idea for Unicorn Horn Pretzel Rods that allowed me to use the same melting chocolate.  (Remember my new year one word, I'm trying to make things as simple as possible.  Two recipes with same ingredients, score!)

Last, we created this rainbow fruit tray with Rainbow Fruit Dip.  I was afraid to make the colored cream cheese mix ahead of time.  I didn't know if the colors would run. But I can report that we kept this dip for 3 days and it remained perfectly mixed.  This is a great dish to make the night before.

I'm obsessing letterboards these days.  So I snagged our letterboard from brother's nursery and found this fun and inspirational unicorn quote.

Finally, we wanted to send our guests off with magical treats themselves.  I loved this idea for unicorn treat bags.  We used the same cut file for the backdrop and shrank it to fit these gift bags.  I found this all in one unicorn party favors on Amazon.  Filling treat bags gives me anxiety, so I quickly added these to my cart.  One less task off my list  We added Aspen's favorite snack, applesauce to the bags as a take-home sweet.

Thanks to these five Pinterest Unicorn party ideas, this party was a breeze to set up and looked totally adorable.  The birthday girl was so excited for her unicorn party and still talks about it today.

Three-year-old party approved!
